"AM444 make head-nodders for spaceships (..) They are undoubtedly one of the Chinese underground’s most exportable products. It’s only a matter of time before this rocket blasts off (..) The sound is, at alternating intervals, dark, hopeful, funky, tranced-out, beautiful, foreboding, buoyant, and back to dark and funky. It’s the drug equivalent of smoking opium, then taking a hit off a crack pipe, and following that up with some downers and a six-pack of Red Bull." layabozi.com
"I don’t know how ChaCha and Jay.Soul found this musical chemistry (..) it’s some sort of otherworldly, non-physical connection that these two share. Listen to the hypnotic beats by Jay paired with the entrancing melodies of ChaCha - the two become one through music." fareastvibes.com
"AM444’s depth surprises me each time I put in my headphones. Like Eye Wonder, Rooms assaults your senses with its wide breadth of musical influence, breaking the boundaries of any one genre. (..) ChaCha continues to grow into a seasoned vocalist and is more transfixing than ever (..) JaySoul will coax you to the dance floor (..) His ingenious production, simultaneously fun, imaginative, haunting, and totally dance-worthy, combined with ChaCha’s heartache (check “Jing Mi De Hu Po”) send your own heart soaring to an ethereal world that you want to call home." inthejar.tumblr.com
"Jay and ChaCha are two talented individuals at the top of their game, making music that reflects a vast palette of influences in a new and original way. If anything, 'ROOMS' goes both darker (see 'Born, Burn') and more dance floor ('Jiu Kuai Yao Zhi Xi') in places than its predecessor, yet the strength of the production and emphasis on melody are constants." shanghai247.net
"There are no boundaries holding AM444 back, no rules to their game, and this is probably why they have so much fun playing it. Albums like that are rare these days – it’s dance/pop without all the nauseating cheese and ripping off fresh hits and following trends; it’s indie electronica – but without all the gloom and pretentious weirdness that’s trying to come off as fresh but is really oh so old; it pays homage to old school – but in such an effortless and organic way that results in the album’s fresh and fun sound." trippintherift.com

Since 2011’s Eye Wonder (also on Pause:Music), Chinese/Dutch duo AM444 have played numerous venues and festivals around China, travelled to Reunion Island, Africa to perform at SAKIFO, had radio play all over the globe, and released a split 12” vinyl record with San Francisco band Tussle & JD Twitch from Optimo. It's been a busy year so far, and all leading up to this – their second full release: Rooms.
Dutch producer Jay.Soul (Corey, Giovanca, Mr.Windmill etc) and Chinese singer ChaCha (Kode 9, Jimi Tenor, RBMA2011, etc) were giving very little away about the new album, but if you caught their live shows at JZ Festival, Fete De La Musique or The Shelter earlier in the year you would have heard a few previews of what to expect on ‘Rooms’. Dubbed out, funked up and heavy on the low end, paired with a cinematic feel and intricate layering of contrasting vocal parts, AM444’s sound is maturing into something which is very difficult to categorize, yet familiar and accessible to all.
